State Farm MVC Scholar-Athlete Spotlight (Feb. 5)

GARRETT STURTZ, DRAKE

Men's Basketball, Jr.

Marketing; 3.52 GPA

 

Garrett Sturtz, a junior on the No. 25 Drake men’s basketball team owns a 3.52 GPA as a marketing major. Last season, he was named to the MVC Men’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete Team as well as being named an MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award winner. Off the court he has participated in the Bulldogs community service efforts as possible during the last year, including assisting fellow Iowan with derecho clean-up and relief. This season, he has helped the Bulldogs to a perfect 17-0 record with 8.5 points and 4.9 rebounds per game in just 20 minutes of action per game. He has shot 56.7 percent for the Bulldogs as well. 

 

Lecoeur SA

CAROLINE LECOEUR, ILLINOIS STATE

Women's Swimming & Diving, Sr.

Psychology; 3.74 GPA

 

Lecoeur is a senior on the Illinois State women's swimming & diving team and has a 3.74 GPA as a psychology major.   She is a two-time CSCAA Scholar All-America Team selection and has been on the AFNI and MVC Honor Roll every possible semester.  The senior is also a MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence award winner. On campus, Lecoeur serves as an intern with the Redbird Productions team as well as the on-campus student media group (TV-10). She is also very active in the community where she has volunteered with the Bird Bash, Sheridan Parade, Hornet Walk, Community Kid's Party,  and the AFNI Rep Dinner.
