The Missouri Valley Conference is pleased to announce the 2020 Women’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete Teams, headlined by MVC Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year Natalia Barbery of Bradley. Thirteen student-athletes have been named to the 2020 MVC Scholar-Athlete Teams; with eight of those selected to the First Team. The scholar-athlete teams are decided by a vote of the league’s women’s tennis sports information directors.

This year’s team includes three student-athletes who earned previous MVC scholar-athlete honors. Barbery and Missouri State’s Ally Darter were honorable-mention selections in both 2018 and 2019, and Drake’s Liza Petushkova was an honorable-mention all-MVC tennis pick last year.
Twenty student-athletes were nominated for the Valley’s scholar-athlete team. The criterion for the honor parallels the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) standards for Academic All-America voting. Nominees must have participated in at least 50% of the team’s regular-season matches played, with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA (on a 4.00 scale). Student-athletes must have reached sophomore status in both athletic and academic standing at their institution (true freshmen and redshirt freshmen were not eligible).
