This week's Missouri Valley Conference swimmer of the week is Moriah Ross of UNI and the diver of the week is Baobao Ji of Southern Illinois

Swimmer of the Week
Lucia Romero, Fr., Zaragoza, Spain (Southern Illinois)
Southern Illinois freshman swimmer Lucia Romero combined for two school records and four wins over the course of two meets last weekend. Against nationally ranked Missouri, Romero shattered the school-record in the 100-yard backstroke with a winning mark of 54.64 and swam the opening leg in the women's 200-yard medley relay, which placed second with an SIU-record time of 1:42.70. She claimed first in the 100-back (56.94) and both relays in Southern's 175-63 dual-meet victory over Evansville. 


Diver of the Week
Baobao Ji, Senior, Taiyuan, China (Southern Illinois)
Baobao Ji helped SIU to a 175-63 Senior Day win over Evansville, as she topped the podium in the one- and three-meter dives with scores of 300.90 and 321.15. The senior was the lone diver in the 11-women field to reach the 300-plateau in either event. Ji also led Southern on the boards against nationally ranked Missouri with a victory in the one-meter dive (294.60) and runner-up finish in the three-meter dive (287.33).  



The season continues February 19-22 in Columbia, Mo. as the teams compete at the 2020 Missouri Valley Conference Swimming & Diving Championship.
