CEDAR FALLS,  IA - The 2019 All-Conference team is comprised of one individual from each of the six singles positions, as well as three doubles teams from each of the doubles positions. In addition, nine individuals are chosen regardless of position played and are named to the “All-Select” Team. Individuals named all-conference in doubles are also eligible to be named to the all-select team in singles. The All-Conference and All-Select teams are chosen by a vote of league coaches.

The 2019 All-Conference team is made up of individuals from Bradley, Illinois State and Missouri State. The Illinois State Redbirds claimed three singles spots on the all-conference team as well as one doubles pairing. Bradley holds two singles spots and two doubles teams. Missouri State added a singles player to the team.

The “All-Select” team has two players from Bradley and Drake while Illinois State and Northern Iowa each have one player on the team. Stony Brook players will be named to the All-Select team following the completion of the conference championship. 

The 2019 Player of the Year is Veronika Golanova from Illinois State. The redshirt senior won nine matches in the No. 1 singles position and went 4-1 in conference play. Golanova was also named Player of the Year for the 2018 season. 

The Freshman of the Year is Bradley’s Bozana Lojpur.  Lojpur won 16 matches while playing in the No. 2 singles spot this season. She finished the season with a record of 5-0 in conference play. While at No. 2 doubles, Lojpur and her partner won 11 matches. Lojpur was named singles player of the week twice and part of a doubles team that was also recognized twice this season. 

Illinois State’s Maja Kovacek earned the 2019 MVC Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year honor. Coach Kovacek led the Redbirds to a record of 17-6 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
