2019 Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete Teams Announced

The Missouri Valley Conference is pleased to announce the 2019 Women’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete Teams. Ten student-athletes have been named to the 2019 MVC Scholar-Athlete Teams; eight of those student-athletes were named to the First Team. The scholar-athlete teams are decided by a vote of the league’s women’s tennis sports information directors, with approval from head coaches.

This year’s first team includes six players that have received previous MVC women’s tennis scholar-athlete first-team recognition. Bradley’s Malini Wijesinghe is a three-time first-team honoree.

Twenty-seven student-athletes were nominated for the Valley’s scholar-athlete team. The criterion for the honor parallels the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) standards for Academic All-America voting. Nominees must have participated in at least 75% of the regular-season matches or be projected to play in the MVC Championship, with at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA (on a 4.00 scale). Student-athletes must have reached sophomore status in both athletic and academic standing at their institution (true freshmen, redshirt freshmen and first-year transfers were not eligible).
