Singles Player of the Week
Sandra Maletin, So., Bradley (Belgrade, Serbia)
Maletin improved to 21-7 for the year, including 13-5 in the No. 1 Singles position, by rolling to a 6-3, 6-2 win in Sunday’s 5-2 win at Missouri State … Maletin’s .750 winning percentage for the season is the best by a Bradley Tennis player since 1992-93 and is the best-ever by a Bradley player to face an exclusive NCAA Division I schedule.
Doubles Team of the Week
Jana Kustkova, Sr., Illinois State (Usti nad Labem, Czech Republic)
Laura Fitzgerald, So., Illinois State (Greystones, Ireland)
Senior Jana Kustkova and sophomore Laura Fitzgerald have been unbeatable as a doubles team, and boast an 8-0 record and 3-0 in MVC play. Kustkova and Fitzgerald took down Missouri State’s Alye Darter/Mara Presot 6-2 to help lead the Redbirds, taking the doubles point. Fitzgerald went on to win her singles match as well to help the ‘Birds capture the win.

Liza Petushkova, Drake
In Drake’s only match, a convincing 5-2 win over Valparaiso, Petushkova defeated Claire Czerwonka 6-2, 6-1 in No. 1 singles to improve to 9-8. She also teamed with Kenya Williams for a 6-2 win over Modesto, Meg/Schoolcraft, I. in No. 2 doubles.
Veronika Golanova, Illinois State
Senior Veronika Golanova showed solid resolve in her comeback win against Missouri State’s Annie Alons, after losing the first set 3-6. Golanova clawed her way to win the next two sets 6-1, 6-3 to take the No. 1 flight for the Redbirds. She is now undefeated at 3-0 in MVC play
Ellie Burger, Missouri State
Ellie Burger posted a 2-0 record in MVC play over the weekend, downing her Illinois State and Bradley opponents in the No. 6 spot. Against Illinois State, Burger rallied after a second-set setback to win in three 7-6, 0-6, 6-3. The next day, the Chesterfield, Mo. native continued her winning ways, defeating Bradley’s Perlwitz in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6.

Carmen Palumbo/Daria Walczak, Drake
The duo defeated Czerwonka, Claire/Sysouvanh, Dao (VALPO) 6-1 in No. 1 doubles. The win improved their record to 12-7. They each added singles wins as Palumbo won at No. 2 singles and Walczak at No. 3.
