Mark Stillwell to be Inducted into CoSIDA Hall of Fame

Retired Drury University and Missouri State University Sports Information Director Mark Stillwell has been elected for induction into the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Hall of Fame. The induction will take place at the CoSIDA Hall of Fame luncheon at the annual CoSIDA-NACDA workshop June 10 in Orlando, Fla.

Stillwell will join a 2019 induction class which includes Jeff Bernstein of New York University, Dave Lohse of North Carolina, John Paquette of the Big East Conference, Maxey Parrish of Baylor and Dave Plati of Colorado. The CoSIDA Hall of Fame was established in 1969 and this year will bring its membership to 224.

Stillwell was previously inducted into the Missouri Valley Conference Hall of Fame in 2008 as the first winner of the Paul Morrison Award, the MSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009, the Springfield Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2010 and the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2016.

He is also retired from the United States Navy after 28 years naval service. He was on active duty in the Pacific in Vietnam, Korea and Taiwan from 1967 to 1970 and retired from the Navy in 1991 with the rank of Captain.

A native Springfieldian and Central High product, Stillwell graduated from Drury in 1967 after serving as student SID his last two years in school. After his Navy active duty, he returned to Drury as SID from 1970 until he moved across town to MSU in 1972. Stillwell served as SID at Missouri State from 1972 to 2008, during which time he received more than 60 publications and writing awards from CoSIDA, CASE and the Missouri College Press Association.

Stillwell currently serves on the Board of Directors of the MSU Foundation, the Drury Alumni Council, the Southwest Missouri Humane Society Board of Directors and the Springfield Area Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors. Stillwell has also worked for the Texas League as an official scorekeeper since the Class AA Springfield Cardinals joined the league in 2005.

He and his wife Tina and cocker spaniel Hardy live in Springfield.
