This week's Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball players of the week include Armon Fletcher of Southern Illinois and Cooper Neese of Indiana State.
Player of the Week
Armon Fletcher, Southern Illinois
6-5, 210, Sr., Gd., Edwardsville (Ill.) High
Armon Fletcher averaged 30 points and 8.5 rebounds for Southern Illinois in a 2-0 week. He started the week by scoring 34 points in a road win at Evansville, tying his own mark for the top scoring game in the conference this season. He followed that up with 26 points on Senior Day in a win over Illinois State, including back-to-back 3-pointers in the final two minutes of the game to seal the win. Fletcher, and Edwardsville, Ill., native, shot 54 percent from the field in the two games and 46 percent from the 3-point line.
Newcomer of the Week
Cooper Neese, Indiana State
6-4, 190, Fr., Gd., Cloverdale (Ind.) High
Neese continued his strong Valley run by averaging 14.0 points and hitting 8-of-11 shots from the field (72.7 percent), including a 3-of-6 (50 percent) mark from distance plus all nine of his free throws as the Sycamores split against Drake and Northern Iowa. He added five steals over the two-game stretch. Neese scored 14 points by hitting all four his shots in the regular season finale against Northern Iowa and was 5-of-7 from the field, with a 3-pointer at Drake.
