ST. LOUIS -- Four repeat first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference selections from a year ago, including Drake's Sammie Bachrodt, Becca Hittner and Sara Rhine and Southern Illinois' Nicole Martin, headline a list of 11 players named to the all-conference first team unit, the league office announced Wednesday.
Joining the four repeat selections on the first team is Illinois State senior Simone Goods, a 2018 honorable mention choice. Bradley's Chelsea Brackmann and Gabi Haack, Illinois State's TeTe Maggett, Loyola's Abby O'Connor, Missouri State's Danielle Gitzen and UNI's Karli Rucker, all first-time honorees, round out the first team selections.
The honorable mention team includes Bradley's Lasha Petree, Drake's Maddy Dean, Missouri State's Brice Calip, Jasmine Franklin and Alexa Willard and Southern Illinois' Makenzie Silvey.
Players from five different schools land spots on the MVC All-Defensive Team. Bradley's Chelsea Brackmann, Drake's Sammie Bachrodt, Loyola's Abby O'Connor, Indiana State's Ashli O'Neal and Missouri State's Danielle Gitzen all join the all-defensive unit.
Four schools are represented on the MVC All-Freshman Team. Bradley's Lasha Petree, Loyola's Allison Day and Janae Gonzales, Missouri State's Jasmine Franklin and Valparaiso's Shay Frederick appear on the five-player rookie team.
Missouri Valley Conference specialty awards for Player, Newcomer, Freshman, Defensive Player and Sixth Player of the Year will be announced, in addition to the league’s Coach of the Year, at an awards ceremony in between Games 1 and 2 of the MVC Tournament on Thursday, March 14, at TaxSlayer Center in Moline, Ill.
