MVC Announces Staff Appointments

The Missouri Valley Conference has announced the addition of three staff members to its staff:  Allie Wielansky (Director of Media & Administration); Emelia Modglin (Media & Administration Intern); and Katie Grunert (Social Media Intern).

Allie Wielansky joined the MVC staff in September 2019.  In addition to serving as the Conference’s primary communications liaison for cross country & track & field, Wielansky provides operations assistance at a number of league championships, assists with ticketing for the league’s two basketball tournaments, and provides various administrative support as needed, including the coordination of conference meetings and additional office management responsibilities.

Wielansky comes to the MVC after previously serving as the Director of External Affairs at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) Athletics. As the Director of External Affairs, she was responsible for the planning and oversight of all department special events and fundraising initiatives. In addition, Wielansky managed all incoming hotel requests and acted as the University Adidas Representative.

Prior to her Directors role, Wielansky was a Graduate Assistant for SIUE where she earned her Master’s Degree in Public Administration while working for the Athletic Department.

Wielansky graduated from the University of Kansas in the spring of 2016 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management, and a Minor in Business. While at the University of Kansas, Wielansky was involved with the Marketing and Fan Experience Department for KU Athletics. She was a Senior Leadership Award Recipient at the School of Education Graduation; an award highlighted her leadership to the school, university, and community, coupled with her academic record.

Allie lives in Creve Couer, Mo.


In addition to serving as the Conference’s primary communications liaison for women’s soccer, Emelia Modglin provides assistance at a number of league championships, assists with ticketing for the league’s basketball tournaments, and provides various administrative support as needed, including assisting in the coordination of league meetings and additional office management responsibilities.  During the fall, Modglin administered the league’s Elite 17 and Good Neighbor Award programs.

Before assuming her role in August 2019, Modglin served as a marketing intern as part of the Rawlings Grass Roots program in Melbourne, Fla., where she managed a marketing team, coordinating schedules and overseeing operational duties for Rawlings.

Modglin played softball at Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Mo., and she was the 2016 Newcomer of the Year in the SLIAC (St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference); she also earned first-team all-league honors twice, third-team all-region honors, was twice an NFCA Academic All-American and was nominated as team captain her senior season.

At Fontbonne, she double majored in Sports Management and Business Administration while obtaining a minor in Transportation.  She is a native of Waterloo, Ill.


Katie Grunert joined the MVC as a social media intern in August 2019.  She also is the primary communications contact for women’s tennis.  Grunert assists in the development of the league’s creative and digital content on all social media platforms, primarily Twitter, and also conducts a weekly Skype interview with student-athletes.

Grunert currently attends Maryville University in St. Louis and is pursuing her bachelor’s degree as part of the Rawlings Sport Business Management program.  Before joining the MVC, she has held various marketing and social media internship positions (Rawlings Sporting Goods, Rapsodo and Maryville University).

Grunert has also served as a volunteer for the Conference in 2018-19, assisting with the State Farm MVC Men’s Basketball Championship in St. Louis and the 2019 NCAA Men’s Regional in Kansas City.  She has served as the Events Chair for the Rawlings Sports Business Leadership Council at Maryville since December 2018, and was a two-year member of Maryville’s softball team.
