Scoring is based on the team’s finish at each Missouri Valley Conference Championship in cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field (i.e. 1st = 1 point, 2nd = 2 points … 10th = 10 points) with the lowest total score for all six championships (3 men’s and 3 women’s) combined determining the award winner.

Illinois State claimed three first-place titles during the 2017-18 season. Illinois State’s women were crowned MVC Champions at both the indoor and outdoor championship. The men’s program finished first during the indoor championships and were the runners-up for outdoor. Illinois State’s men’s and women’s cross country programs finished 3rd and 6th, respectively, in the conference championship.

Indiana State finished a close second. The Sycamore were runners-up in men’s cross country, men’s and women’s indoor track & field, and the women shared the No. 2 spot in outdoor track & field.

UNI’s performance at championships earned third with 21 points. The Panthers claimed the 2018 Men’s outdoor track & field title. The UNI women’s program finished in the top 5 at all three championships.

Southern Illinois and Bradley round out the top-5. The Salukis’ top-five team finishes during the indoor and outdoor championships helped to secure fourth place. Bradley claimed titles at the cross country championship for both their men’s and women’s programs.
