Valley Places Three on Academic All-America Track/Cross Country Teams

The Missouri Valley Conference is represented by three student-athletes on the Google Cloud Academic All-America Team.

Will Anderson of Bradley was named to the Academic All-America First-Team. Anderson maintains a perfect 4.00 GPA while majoring in Electrical Engineering. During his junior campaign, he scored in three different events at the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Championships. He finished a career-best fourth at the conference meet in both the indoor 5,000m and outdoor 10,000m. He also recorded top-10 finishes in the outdoor 5,000m (8th) and indoor 3,000m (10th) this season.

Illinois State’s J.D. LaFayette has been named to the second-team. The senior holds a flawless 4.00 GPA as a computer science major. LaFayette won the MVC Elite 17 award at the 2018 Valley Indoor Track & Field Championships, where he was also crowned the MVC's Indoor 800-meter Champion for the second time of his career. J.D. was an Academic All-America third team selection in 2015-16. 

Northern Iowa’s Alex Jackson received third-team honors for his performance in the 2017-18 season. Jackson has posted a perfect 4.00 while majoring in biology. Jackson placed eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2018 MVC outdoor track and field championships. His eighth-place finish helped the UNI men's program to the Panthers’ first MVC team title since 2009.
