Jacob Smith, So, UNI (Burlington, Iowa)
Jacob Smith continued his stellar outdoor season over the weekend after placing fourth at the Drake Relays 400-meter hurdles. Smith’s time of 50.94 is a personal best for the sophomore, while ranking first in the MVC and 12th in the NCAA West region. Smith also placed second in the 4x400 relay preliminaries at the Drake Relays.

Male Field
Ricky Hurley, So., Southern Illinois (Fox River Grove, Ill.)
Hurley’s impressive outdoor season continued at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational, hosted by Louisville. The Fox River Grove, Ill. native won both the shot put and the hammer throw and added a runner-up finish in the discus. Hurley opened Friday with a win in the hammer throw at 203’-6” (62.04m) and added a victory in the shot put with an outdoor PR of 60’-3.75” (18.38m). He later notched a lifetime-best in the discus at 184’-11” (56.37m) to finish second. Hurley currently ranks in the top-25 in the NCAA West Region in the discus (13th), shot put (17th) and hammer throw (23rd) and is one of two male throwers in the NCAA, along with Georgia’s Denzel Comenentia, to rank in the top-25 regionally for all three events.

Tyjuana Eason, So., Southern Illinois (Kankakee, Ill.)
Eason took second in the 100m dash and helped SIU to a win in the 4x100 relay this past weekend’s Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational. Eason ran 11.66 in the 100m dash to finish second and later combined with Genesis Ewell, Shafiqua Maloney and Bri’Anna Branch to run the second-fastest 4x100 relay time in school history. The quartet ran 44.94 to best a 12-team field that featured relay squads from Minnesota, Illinois State and Louisville. Not only was Southern’s sprint relay time the second-fastest in school history but it again gives the Salukis the fastest relay time in the Missouri Valley Conference this season.

Female Field
Sidne’ Williamson, Jr., Missouri State (St. Louis, Mo.)
Sidne’ Williamson set a new personal best long jump record, by marking a 6.18m (20’ 3.5”) leap at the Memphis Tiger Invite. Williamson’s attempt was good enough for the event title, the top mark in the Missouri Valley Conference this season and 24th on the West Region Qualifying list.
