MOLINE, IL - No. 4 seed Southern Illinois overcame a 16-point deficit in the fourth quarter and claimed a 69-67 win over No. 5 seed Indiana State in the second quarterfinal of the MVC Women's Basketball Tournament in Moline, Ill.
The Salukis trailed 57-41 at the end of the third quarter and managed to outscore the Sycamores 28-10 in the final stanza.
Senior forward Kylie Giebelhausen poured in a game-high 20 points with nine rebounds and three assists to lead SIU. The senior was really impressive during the fourth quarter comback, scoring 14 of her 20 points.
Three other Salukis scored double figures as Abby Brockmeyer, Nicole Martin and Makenzie Silvey each scored 11 points in the win.
Indiana State had three players finish in double figures in the loss. Senior Ashley Taia led the Trees with 13 points, four rebounds and three assists in her final game in a Sycamore uniform. Tierra Webb and Alexis Delgado each netted 11 points in the loss.
Southern Illinois will face top-seeded Drake in Saturday's first semifinal at 1:30 p.m.
