MOLINE, IL - Top seed Drake led from start to finish and ran away from No. 8 seed Valparaiso to earn an 89-40 win in the first quarterfinal of the MVC Women's Basketball Tournament in Moline, Ill.  The win set a record for the largest margin of victory in an MVC Tournament game. 

Drake raced out to a 23-6 advantage at the end of the first quarter and held a 46-18 advantage at the half despite shooting only 33.3% in the half. 

Junior guard Maddy Dean and sophomore forward Sara Rhine each scored 19 points to lead the Bulldogs.  MVC Jackie Stiles Player of the Year Becca Hittner added 18 points with four rebounds, going 11-for-11 from the line. 

Valpo was paced by sophomore Caitlin Morrison who scored 11 points on 4-for-7 shooting from the field. Senior Dani Franklin ended her career for the Crusaders with eight points and four rebounds. 

Drake will face the winner of No. 4 Southern Illinois/No. 5 Indiana State in Saturday's first semifinal at 1:30 p.m.
