Weekend Sweeps

Two league teams earned a series sweep over the weekend, including Bradley and Evansville. The Braves earned a series sweep on the road over Belmont, while the Aces won three games at home over Western Illinois.

Bradley's eight-game winning streak is tied for the sixth-longest in the nation sitting behind Texas Tech (13), Auburn (12), Oregon State (12), Florida State (11) and Louisville (11).

This week's Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Player/Pitcher of the Week are Missouri State's Drew Millas and Southern Illinois' Brad Harrison, respectively.

MISSOURI VALLEY CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Drew Millas, So., C, Missouri State
Missouri State sophomore catcher Drew Millas powered the Bears’ offense to a 2-1 finish at the Keith LeClair Classic in Greenville, N.C., this past weekend, hitting .778 (7-for-9) with a team-leading five RBIs. Millas recorded back-to-back multi-RBI performances and hits in each of his first five at-bats of the weekend, including a career-best 4-for-4 effort in MSU’s 7-4 win over No. 24 ECU—the Bears’ first regular-season victory over a ranked foe in three years. The Belleville, Ill.,native also went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Sunday’s 8-7 win over Pepperdine to help the Bears to the tourney title.

MISSOURI VALLEY CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Brad Harrison, So., LHP, Southern Illinois

Southern Illinois sophomore left-hander Brad Harrison threw a two-hit shutout at Belmont on Tuesday. Harrison threw seven perfect innings and retired the final 17 Belmont batters of the game. No Belmont hitter reached third base in the game, and Harrison only went to one three-ball count in the game. He threw the complete-game shutout in only 92 pitches. Harrison struck out 11 in the win and walked just one. Ten of Harrison’s 11 strikeouts came during his string of 17-straight batters retired to end the game.
