ST. LOUIS – Central Arkansas earned the top seed in the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Championship, capping off the MVC season at 4-1-1 (13 points) to claim the outright MVC regular-season crown with a 1-0 win at Missouri State Saturday evening. The regular season title is the first for the Bears men’s soccer program.
Loyola, which finished its conference slate with a 3-1-2 record (11 points), will be the No. 2 seed and receive the other first-round bye along with Central Arkansas. Valparaiso earns the No. 3 seed (2-1-3 MVC, 9 points), while Missouri State (2-2-2 MVC, 8 points) and Evansville (2-2-2 MVC, 8 points) finished tied for fourth with the Bears winning the tiebreaker for the No. 4 seed. Drake (1-3-2 MVC, 5 points) will be the No. 6 seed.
The Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Championship will kick off with quarterfinal round matches on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Arad McCutchan Stadium on the campus of the University of Evansville.
All five matches of the 2018 MVC Men's Soccer Championship, including two quarterfinals on Wednesday, two semifinals on Friday and the championship match on Sunday, will be available for fans to follow via live streaming on The Valley on ESPN. Sean Wheelock (play-by-play) and Ty Keough (analyst) will call the matches live from Arad McCutchan Stadium.
