At Saturday’s Notre Dame Invitational in Notre Dame, Indiana, Nelson had what is arguably the best performance of his young career, clearing a personal-best 5.08m (16-08.00) in the pole vault. Not only was this mark good for a second-place finish, but it seeds him first the Valley and 42nd in the nation. She finished second in the race, but crossed the line at 4:48.29, which overtook Lansing's time of 4:50.12. The only Sycamore in front of Austin on the all-time list now is her teammate Brooke Moore, who holds the school-record at 4:43.04.
